Meridian ONVIF

Our Meridian ONVIF server for Remote Industrial Monitoring GigE Camera

Client Background

A global industrial enterprise, operating remote sites to monitor machinery, environmental conditions, and worker safety, faced challenges with its existing video surveillance system. The traditional system struggled with real-time monitoring and lacked seamless integration. In search of a solution, the client sought a high-quality, secure, and centralized remote monitoring system capable of efficiently covering all sites with high-resolution video feeds.

Challenges

The client faced several challenges, including the need for high-quality, real-time video streaming to monitor machinery and ensure safety in remote environments. They required a remote, centralized management system to minimize the need for on-site visits. Additionally, secure video transmission was crucial to safeguard sensitive footage and comply with industry regulations. Furthermore, scalability was essential to enable the expansion of the monitoring system across multiple sites as the business grew.

Our Solution

  • GigE Camera Integration: We deployed GigE cameras for real-time, high-definition video streaming with minimal latency. These cameras, connected directly to the client's Ethernet network, provided seamless integration and ensured reliable video capture even in harsh industrial environments. ONVIF compliance enabled smooth integration with the Meridian ONVIF Server, allowing easy device management across multiple vendors.

  • Centralized ONVIF Control: The Meridian ONVIF Server centralized control of all video surveillance devices, providing a single interface to monitor and manage cameras across multiple remote sites. The plug-and-play integration minimized setup time and reduced compatibility issues, making it easier for the client to add and manage devices without complex configuration.

  • Remote Monitoring Access: Remote access to live and recorded footage from desktop or mobile devices enabled operators to monitor multiple sites simultaneously, ensuring real-time oversight. The automated alert system notified personnel of potential issues like equipment malfunctions, allowing for rapid response without needing to be physically on-site.

  • Efficient Storage and Data Management: The Meridian ONVIF Server provided efficient video storage and management through both scheduled and event-triggered recording. Integration with   Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and cloud storage options ensured reliable data retrieval, long-term storage, and redundancy, all while maintaining compliance with security standards through encryption and secure authentication protocols.

  • Future-Ready Scalability: Designed to scale with the client's growing needs, the   Meridian ONVIF Server supported the addition of new cameras and devices without system disruptions. The solution’s flexibility ensured that future expansions, including network upgrades and increased data traffic, could be handled efficiently and without significant operational impact.

Outcome

  • Real-Time Video Quality: High-resolution, real-time video streaming capabilities of the GigE cameras delivered crystal-clear footage, enabling accurate monitoring of operations and safety conditions, even in remote locations.

  • Streamlined Device Management: The Meridian ONVIF Server centralized the control of all devices, reducing the complexity of managing multiple disparate systems and providing a unified interface for operators to monitor and control all cameras across various sites.

  • Improved Response Times: Remote access and real-time video streaming enabled operators to respond quickly to issues without the need for on-site visits. Automated alerts further optimized response times, ensuring potential problems were addressed immediately.

  • Scalability and Flexibility: The client’s surveillance system is now easily scalable, allowing them to add more cameras and devices without significant reconfiguration. The ONVIF-compliant architecture provided seamless integration of future devices.

  • Secure, Compliant Data Management: The solution’s built-in security protocols ensured that video data remained encrypted and compliant with industry regulations, safeguarding sensitive operational data.

  • Cost Savings and Operational Efficiency: The ability to monitor multiple sites remotely and the reduced need for on-site interventions resulted in lower operational costs. The client also benefited from improved decision-making based on real-time video data, optimizing operations across their facilities.
